Customs House at Výtoň

The former customs house at 412 Rašín Embankment is the last surviving fragment of Podskalí, an ancient fishermen’s settlement, apart from the Early Baroque Church of Saints Cosmas and Damian (originally a parish church). The Podskalí settlement originated at the end of the 12th century and over time its inhabitants received timber trademonopoly rights for wood that was floating along the Vltava.

Today, the customs house is a seat of the permanent exhibition of the Prague City Museum dedicated to the history of formerPodskalí, timber floating on the Vltava, cargo shipping, and personal steamboat transport. Inside the house is a restaurant designed by the architect David Vávra.
